House of Horror

22nd Septermber, 2011: House of Horror

I watched the dark waves around me reach at the boat, lifting it up and down and tossing it like it nothing but a small plastic bag in the wind. Splashes of water reached over the rim of the tiny canoe and splashed down, ice cold against my legs. The guy in front of me turned and grinned as he lifted his oar and slide it effortlessly through the rough water to propel us forward. I could see in the distance small specks of light flickering, almost inviting me to join them. I leaned forward and asked the guy if he could go any faster. He grinned at me and continued at the same pace. Somewhere in the distance, thunder rumbled the sky lit up in angry flashes. The water got choppy and I felt more and more water slipping into the canoe. I felt the boat twist underneath the water. The oar slipped from the guys arms and he yelled as he lunged forward to grab at it. Unable to reach it as it was stole away by the sea, he turned and grabbed me as the boat turned over. It was quiet underneath the water. I couldn't see the boy any more, or feel him near me. I tried to break for the surface but I could feel the heaviness of the water dragging me further and further down. My lungs began to ache with a need to breathe and I reached higher and higher. I began to see spots in the water, dark spots which seemed to appear out of no where. I reached higher and higher and then finally reached the surface. Taking a deep breath in I looked around me. The boat was nowhere to be seen. Turning around I made out a figuring floating in the water as the lightning flashes again. The rain hit down hard, making it difficult to see. I swam towards the figure and reached out for the boy. I turned him over and saw his eyes were closed. Holding him onto me I looked for the lights. The rain poured down under, I felt the water sweep me away and holding on to the boy I struggled to move against the water. A large wave hit me, hard against my back. I was thrown underwater. I struggled to reach the boy as he drifted away from me. Dark spots appeared in front of my eyes, clouding my vision. I moved for the surface but was tossed back, again and again.

I woke up on a beach covered in sand. I slowly peeled myself off and went into the water to wash what was remaining of the sand off me. I looked down the shore and saw the boy lying on the sand. I moved over slowly to him, my arms and legs arguing from the strain. I turned him over and he coughed up water. He sat up looking confused and staring into the trees. I turned and looked in his direction as a man walked out. He helped the boy up and motioned for us to follow him. I walked after him into the trees. We seemed to walk for a long time, all the trees and areas looking the same, the same vines hanging low on trees, brushing against my hair as I ducked under them. We came to a cleaning with many wooden huts. People came out to see what was going on. He paraded us around the camp before leading us to a house. He pointed inside and simply said "rest". I opened the wooden door and let it creak. The house was nicely furnished and the lights shone brightly lighting up every inch of the house. I wondered why the people chose to live in huts outside with such a nice place right there. The boy and I walked into the spare bedroom where a bunk bed sat. In the corner of the room was an old wardrobe. I pulled open the first draw and pulled out a shirt and a pair of shorts. I quickly changed out of the wet clothes and into them. The boy threw on a pair of shorts and a blue t-shirt. We noticed a few backpacks sitting by the bed and opened them. They contained a flash light and some food. I pulled out a chocolate bar and began to eat. We heard noise coming from one of the other rooms and I walked over and knocked on the door. In the room were several other people. They told us that they had also been in an accident and were staying there for the night in a hope rescue would come. I thought it was weird that there was so many accidents but thought little of it. The boy and I went back to our room and turned the light off. He switched the tv on and the light lit up the room. He began to flick through the channels as I lay on the top bunk half asleep. I heard a scream some time later and opened my eyes. It took me a minute to work out where I was and the tv was still lighting up the room. The boy was gone so I picked up a flash light and headed into the hallway. The hallway had streams of blood across the walls and splashed across the floor. I headed for the door where the others were and knocked. No one came to the door so I turned the handle. The room was dark and I reached for the switch in the doorway. My hand brushed something as I tried to turn the light on and off. The light turned on for a second then the bulb exploded sending the room into complete darkness. I turned the flash light on and shined around the room. The room was empty but blood splattered the walls and furniture. In the corner I could hear a strange sound. My light hit a girl who was chewing on an arm. Her hair was a mess and her eyes were completely black. She lunged forward at me and I slammed the door closed. I could hear her scratching at the door and it sent shivers up my spine. I walked along the corridor, but I didn't hear a sound from everywhere. I turned left into the next corridor and into the shared bathroom. The room was dark, and barely lit by the lamp by the mirror. I walked past the cubicles, checking each one for people inside them. It was quiet.. I could hear the dripping of a tap on the vanity and the sound of water spilling onto the floor. I turned and saw the first cubicle floor had water coming from it. Assuming the toilet had clogged I continued towards the back. I heard a shuffle of a noise as a couple of the girls entered the room. I yelled at them to be careful, but they turned. They seem to stare at me for a minute. I stared back only to realise they were staring at something to the right of me. Slowly I turned and came face to face with a figure I couldn't quite recognise. The features distorted in a haze. The thing rushed at me and I hit the tile floor hard. I turned as it passed through the girls and watched as their eyes slowly became dark. Their faces grew menacing as I struggled to get up. I reached for something to pull me up and grabbed onto a cord. Lifting myself up I noticed the cord was a hair straightener which was plugged in. The girls came closer and closer to me, with no means of escape I turned the straightener on and threw it at the group, hoping to hit the water and electrocute them. The hair straightener bounced and landed in the water. Nothing happened. I looked at the powerpoint and the cord had been dislodged and the turned off. I plugged it in quickly and turned the switch on. The room lit up in a blue haze as the girls screamed. I ran quickly, as the screaming had brought the attention of others. The hazy figure seemed to dash in and out of rooms and the house seemed to get darker. I ran through the corridor, feeling them behind me before I ran into someone. I struggled to get away from them as a hand clamped over my mouth and dragged me into a dark supply closet. I breathed heavily, shaking as the hand held hard against my mouth. I could feel someone behind me and I wondered if this would be how I died. I could hear the sound of thumping in the hallway outside. Slowly the sound got more distant until it was a faint echo. The hand dropped and I turned, shining my flash light at the person. The boy looked at me with a sense of relief. He told me he had tried to wake me but I appeared to be dead as I would not wake for anything. He explained he had shaken me and slapped me but I didn't wake and he was afraid that whatever happened to them had happened to me. He leaned forward and opened the door and peered into the corridor. He motioned for me to follow him as we slipped into the darkness. We crept silently through the hallway until we reached the front door. I reached for the handle as a scream shook out across the room. I turned to see the white haze lunge at us. It's impact was cold as ice as it threw me through the front door and onto the front veranda, disappearing into nothing as the sun hit the porch. I breathed heavily, my chest aching from the impact. The boy sat up next to me, his arms covered in dark purple bruises. The man who had led us there walked up to us. He smiled and looked behind him. His people seemed to come up behind him and they watched as he lead us down a dark alley. I don't know why we followed him, perhaps it was from exhaustion, perhaps it was from fear. The alley seemed to be filled with faces of the people in the room. He pointed them out to us as if he was proud. Reaching the end, he smiled once more, then something heavy hit me in the head. Everything went dark.

I awoke in the room with the bunk bed. The boy laying next to me on the bottom bunk. I looked down and I was wearing a long t-shirt which was covered in blood. My head ached and I reached behind to feel blood mattered in my hair. The boy moved slightly but did not wake. I shook him and he opened his eyes. "Fuck" he said. I looked to where he was looking at the white haze stood at the end of the bed. Waiting.

Paris

9th August, 2011 : Paris

"Hey, wake up" the voice next to me said softly. My eyes opened and I looked around the blurred room slowly. I blinked a few times to clear my vision and realised I was sitting on a plane. The girl next to me, a friend I was assuming, had a large grin on her face. I smiled back and she shifted excitedly in her chair. "We're almost there". Shifting to a more comfortable position, I leaned over to pick up my handbag and its contents which were spread out on the floor in front of me. It must have fallen while I was asleep I thought. Grabbing my wallet I leaned back in my chair and stared out of the window. The city below was unfamiliar to me and I couldn't shake a slight excitement that coursed up my spine as I looked down below. The buildings were bathed in an orange hue and the water beneath us seemed to shimmer up, reflecting the night sky and it's thousands of stars. The plane began its descent and we landed on a pier, the city behind us and the ocean in front. I got up and off the plane, ignoring any luggage and grabbing at my camera in my bag. I stepped off the plane into the night air, it was cool against my skin and the air smelled of sea and what could only described as musty old library books. I turned around and the plane had disappeared and the group of people who I was with, who seemed more like a class than a random bunch of travellers, were standing discussing excitedly about where we were. I looked up past the buildings and made out the image of the Eiffel Tower in the background. Paris? I thought to myself. Scanning the buildings around it, it didn't feel like Paris, it didn't look Paris but I couldn't shake the feeling that this was where I was. I looked up across the water at a bridge in the distance. It spanned across the water from one side of the land to the other. I made out the faint lights of a train passing underneath the section of the road, and a few cars driving in and out of the streetlights on the bridge. I took my camera and began taking pictures of some of the buildings, the bridge and the surrounding landscape. A feeling of dread crept up as I took a picture of the old prison. Turning around to tell my friend about it, I found myself standing alone on the pier. I looked up at the bridge, there were not cars, I glanced around the street and not a person was in sight. The silence that sounded was deafening and was only broken by the occasional wave breaking against the wood of the pier's support stands. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadow disappear into the prison. I turned quickly and headed in the direction, calling out for whatever it was to stop. Throwing the door of the prison open I moved into the darkness.

Inside the prison, there was only a dark spiral staircase leading down below. Gripping the railing tight I began to descend down the stair case, taking the stairs one at a time for what seemed like a long time. The first section off the stairs was a door way to the right in the stone wall. I reached out and tried to turn the knob. The door wouldn't open or budge. Turning it the other way I threw my weight against the door. Still nothing. Giving up I continued down the stairs, the light seeming to get dimmer as I went down each stair. The second landing had an open door. The room itself was bare with only an old metal bed with no mattress sitting in the corner. An old pot laid cracked by the small slit in the room, which was lit up only by the full moon outside on the water. Walking to the small "window" I got the strange impression of a girl pacing back and forth by the window. She had no shoes and her hair was messed. I imagined she smelled from the look of her ratty clothes. I could feel her sadness and anger, which seemed to mix together in an overpowering emotion. I hurried out of the room, closing the door behind me. I could hear my heart in my ears beating quicker. What was this place? I saw a shadow moved below and again hurried to catch up. The next landing brought me to a small kitchenette. There was an old wood fire stove in the corner. The middle of the room held a large wooden bench which seemed to be rotting. I turned from this room and headed down again, ignoring 3 more landings before reaching the bottom. The bottom appeared to be a dungeon. I could see, or maybe it was a feeling or just my imagination the image of a man chained up against the wall. His head hung downwards so I couldn't see his face over the mess of unkempt hair. His hands where he had been chained were stained with dried blood. On the opposite side was a woman, her hair messed and tangled. Her body caked with months of dirt which just clung to her. Her feet were covered in dirt and mixed in with the red-orange of blood that had smeared as she walked back and forth over glass. I got a feeling of being trapped and turned to walk up the stair case, only the stair case wasn't there anymore. In its place was an old wooden door with a brass handle. I took a deep breath and turned the handle, opening the door. I stared into darkness. There was nothing there, no light, no shadows just black. From the distance I could make out a blur of something coming towards me. Faint at first, the white blur moved closer and closer, getting bright and brighter until it hit me, hard in the chest, throwing me backwards.

I landed hard on my behind on the stone street beside the peer. My friend offered a hand to help me up and laughed that I was "such a klutz". She said she had been looking for me everywhere and that we had to head to the hotel. We started walking in the direction she claimed was the hotel. I followed her, looking at my surroundings. The buildings were the same, the bridge was the same but there was something different, something not right. As we got closer to the hotel, I began to notice that while it resembled a hotel in size, it felt more like the prison that I had just been in. I grabbed my friend's arm and told her that we shouldn't go in there. She turned around to ask 'why not' only it wasn't her face I stared into; it was the girl pacing in the first room. She grabbed my arm, squeezing hard and just said "run" before she appeared to burst into a dark liquid which seeped into the ground. I turned and ran towards the bridge. I could hear my feet thumping against the floor and then a pain shot up my leg. I looked down and saw that I wasn't wearing shoes. Where had my shoes gone?? I stopped to pull the large piece of glass that was gutting from the sole of my right foot. Warm blood filled up the gap where the glass had been. I tossed the glass aside, hearing it break on the side of the street as I continued towards the bridge. A train pulled in to the right of me, from the train got off a guy friend of mine. I ran towards him, screaming his nickname, "A", and he caught me just before I tripped over, slipping on the blood from my foot. "What the hell happened to you?" he said, helping me to my feet. I gave him a quick hug and said "we need to get out of here now, it's not real". He looked at me puzzled. I continued running up the metal staircase leading to the bridge. Hesitantly, he took off after me and finally I was standing at the start of the bridge. "A" caught up behind me and stood next to me. The bridge was covered in a white-grey fog that seemed to get thicker and thicker. In the fog I could make out a guy walking towards me. He was dressed in a suit with a cowboy hat on covering his face. He's voice seemed to come from everywhere as he spoke. "It's not going to be that easy". From behind me was a large crash. I turned to see the hotel disappear down into the ground, debris flying towards other buildings. A large black figure seemed to creep up from behind us. Its arms hung down low past its knees and seemed to almost drag against the ground. The shape of the creature seemed to be about four or five stories high. I took off along the bridge, A followed me. As we headed along the bridge, I could make out small white creatures coming at us. The appeared to be cat-like in shape, but had fangs that protruded down past the creature's chin. They also had razor sharp claws and tails in the shape of arrows. The lunged at us, I dived down past the first one, wishing I had kept that piece of glass with me. Another creature lunged at us and I rolled over to the side of the bridge, almost falling off. I balanced myself and got up. I moved towards the deserted cars that were sitting on the road. None of them would open. "Fuck I swore", as I saw one of them come up behind me in the reflection of the window. I ducked down at it went through the window. Its tail caught on the side of the car and ripped. I grabbed the arrow, and drove it into the stomach of another creature that had crept up behind me. I could hear the large black creature coming closer as I took off, A was nowhere in sight, I hope he had gotten away.  More little creatures came at me, I dodged left and right, however they just seemed to grow in number. I could see that I wasn't even half way through the bridge and I was growing tired and dizzy. My foot ached and my hands were covered in blood. A few of the creatures lunged at once, scratching me deep in my shoulder. I kicked out hard, connecting with one of them in the face. I rolled to the left; however the bigger creature stomped hard at this moment. I was unable to stop and rolled off the side. I gripped onto the ledge with both hands; however the blood made it hard to hang on. My right hand slipped and I struggled to re-grip onto the bridge. The creatures came closer and ran their fangs along my knuckles. Unable to hold on, I let go and fell down into the water below. It was ice cold.  I could make out A in the water, he was just floating there. I dove down and grabbed him and began to rise to the surface. Breaking through the water I took in a large gulp of air. A looked up at me, coughing up water. In the water I could make out the images of a lot of people, including the girl who had told me to run. A looked at me and said "definitely should have stayed home". I heard a deafening roar and covered my ears with my hands. I was feeling lightheaded, and I assumed I had lost too much blood. I looked up at the bridge to see the little creatures jump into the water and head towards us. "Fuck" I swore. But that wasn't the worse of my problems as the large creature also jumped from the bridge into the water. They swam at us, moving faster and faster along the water, a blur of white and a dark shape in the middle. From the bridge I heard laughing.  The man with the hat stood there, watching.

Fire and Lakes

This isn't my usual kind of dream. There isn't anything revolting or a monster... well not quite a monster. I can't quite describe it but I figured, a dream is a dream, even if it isn't a nightmare =P. So here is something a little bit different from normal.

22nd July, 2011: Fire and Lakes
The sun was beating down on the cracked brown earth where I was laying. I could make out the deep blue of the sky and rolled over onto my stomach. The grass nearby had been turned brown by the heat that had come over the summer. I was lying by the pool, listening to music when I heard the cars start up. The boys were up to their old tricks and took off way to quickly down the old driveway. I rolled my eyes as the cloud of dust they had brought up slowly settled by my side and stood up to brush the dust off my white dress. One of the boys stopped to give me a grin, he was about to climb on a deep chestnut horse and take off after the other boys who’d taken off in individual cars. He asked if I was coming down to the lake with them, and that he’d race us. I smiled and said I’d beat them there, running down the path. I could hear the slap of my thongs on the ground as I ran up the driveway, the wind slowly slipping past my hair. The guy rode up quickly on the horse and grinned as he rode past me. Turning right at the end of the drive way we headed into the paddock, the grass brown and dead from the long summer’s heat. I could make out the cars up ahead, one bright green, one bright purple, a red and a white. The guys were laughing as they got to the lake. For some reason, I had no trouble keeping up with them, despite being on foot the entire time. When they got to the lake, rather than demounting, the boy on the horse dove into the lake and began to swim across. I followed after, diving into the murky brown water. I swam across just behind him when the boys in the cars all drove into the water, doing the same thing. I scrambled onto the banks of the other side and we continued down towards the Cliffside. The cars over took me, and so did the boy on the horse until they came to a sudden halt. I skidded as I tried to stop myself falling over the side of the cliff, the boy on the horse grabbing at my dress and yanking me back before I flew over. The cars screeched and in the distance, I saw a large spark. We stood there for a moment, looking into the distance, attempting to make out the spark. It seemed to come closer and closer until we could make out the distinct pattern of fire heading our way. Abandoning the cars, we began to head back towards the lake, in a hope that diving into the water would stop us being burned. The run back seemed to take forever, dodging and ducking through branches, the sun beating down hotter and hotter, or perhaps it was the first that was on our tails, which seemed to move and burn in the same directions we were travelling at, nipping at our feet just to remind us it was there. I saw the water and took a deep breath, diving into the luke warm water.  I could hear splashes behind me, one, two, three… but no forth. I rose to the surface to see the boy in the bright purple car engulfed in flames. He screamed out and then he wasn’t there anymore. The fire had reached the banks and taking another breath I dove underneath the protection of the water. I could make out the silhouettes of the other boys. I began to lose air, but could make out the fire crossing over the top of the water, seeming unfazed by the water beneath.  I began to rise, but the boy on the horse grabbed my arms and held me down. I began to feel light headed, my lungs screamed to allow air in, and finally he released me. I rose to the surface and took in a deep gulp of air. The fire had just passed by in front of me, sitting on the surface and continued forward down the lake.
I looked at the boy and thanked him for keeping me down, because if he hadn’t, surely I would have been burned like the other boy. He looked at me, and said “don’t thank me yet” as I felt a tug on my leg. I looked down and in the water was a kid, who seemed to be trying to reach the top. Putting my arms down I helped him to the surface only to receive what can only be described as an electric shock course through my body. I looked up on the bridge and a strange man was standing there, his face shadowed by the broad hat he was wearing. He pointed at the child, and the next thing I knew the child was in his arms. He began to wrap the child in fishing net, over and over and over, before throwing the child into the water, where he was caught by a rip. The man smiled cruelly and said “let’s see you beat this one”. I swam for the child who began to sink under water, however with each passing wave in the water; I felt another electric shock course through my body. The waves pulled the boy further and further along the lake, the boys swam alongside me to help the kid. I watched as with each passing stroke, we all seemed to be shocked by the same invisible electric current. Reaching the child, one of the boys grabbed the net and instantly began to be shocked. I could see the waves of electricity coursing through him as he opened his mouth to scream, but it was only filled with water. He looked at me for a second, then his eyes became lifeless, he lay there clinging to the net, unmoving. The child smiled and then disappeared completely. I floated there for a minute, staring and trying to comprehend what had just happened. One of the boys pulled on my arm and began to drag me up stream. When we reached up stream, there was an old wooden dock bobbing in the water. We pulled ourselves up onto the dock, exhausted and gasping for air. The guy looked over at me and said “what the fuck was that?” I shook my head, unable to comprehend what was actually going on when I got a feeling of extreme dread. The dock lead into the forest and I had a feeling there was something darker waiting for us in there. Standing up I looked into the forest, seeing only shadows darting from one tree to another. I took a deep breath and stepped into the shadows. It was cold. I felt the shadows cling to me, blocking out any sunlight on my skin and then felt a tug. I landed hard on my back. I felt something grab at my leg and begin dragging me. Deeper and deeper into the forest I seemed to be pulled, unable to cling onto anything to stop this propulsion. The forest got darker and darker until I couldn’t see in front of me. I could hear a strange rumble growing louder and louder. Then I woke up.

Totem Animals

10th July, 2011 : Totem Animals

I was standing in the night, looking up at the sky. There was a boy with me and we were looking at the stars. I could hear the faint chirps of crickets in the background and the smell of the sea drifting in with the wind. I could hear a slight humming coming from the water and headed over there. The boy, my brother, yelled after me, telling me not to go down there. Stupidly I didn't listen and was hit by something in the head. I fell into the water and felt something swarm on top of me. I was pulled under. Then I was seeing myself from above. I could see myself being pulled further and further down, the only indication, the white of my shirt as it seemed to disappear underneath black... Then I bobbed up, lying in the water. My brother was yelling something but he couldn't move forward, as if blocked by  a shield.

Next thing I knew I was sitting at a table with two friends, who were joking about something. They asked me if I had dazed off again... and I wasn't sure but I smiled and joined the conversation. After a while, my brother walked up and sat next to me, he dropped a bag on the table, threw me a grin and pulled a drink out of it and tossed me one. We all started gossiping when a few people walked towards us into the woods. I had a chilling sensation down my back, and cast my eyes over there. I had a strange sensation of seeing shadows following them, small shadows which didn't appear to be anything at first, but which changed into outlines of images I couldn't quite recognise. My brother looked over in the direction I was looking at and put his hand on my shoulder, "don't" he said. I looked at the guy sitting opposite me, he must have understood the look because he swore under his breath and stood up. "Let's get this over with" he said as he walked over and helped me up. My brother and the girl stood up and followed us, as we headed for the woods. We passed a strange looking manhole cover which I stopped to peer down at. It had a lot of gaps, formed in a strange pattern. The guy took my hand and pulled me away from it, launching into an old ghost story about the sewer system underneath, and how many people were murdered down there, and that their spirits lay uneasy, Shaking the idea from my head, we continued through the forest. A strange sensation of being watched and followed by shadows filled me as we headed deeper and deeper in. The voices of the group who had headed in there before seemed to grow softer and softer the further we travelled in.  Finally we came do a dark street, lined with houses. We walked along the dimly lit pathway, stopping at each house to glance at the buildings. Each house had a strange feel to it, nothing felt quite right, and I noticed shadowed animals on the front lawn of certain places. I had an uneasy feeling at each of the houses, until I came to a two story, old Victorian home, with a sold sign nailed to the rusty black gate. We opened the gate and walked onto the front path. This place felt good, almost like home. My brother shifted an uneasy look across the street at the neighbours who were standing on their porch watching us. I walked up to the door, and reached for the handle. Before I could touch it, the door swung open slowly. The hallway lead to a staircase leading upwards, with what appeared to be a kitchen behind it. To the left was a large living room, stacked with a few old boxes, old furniture covered in dust and a musty smell. I stepped onto the wooden floor of the house and it creaked. Stepping through the door way, fully into the house, I noticed small shadows on the floor coming towards me. The seemed to form the shapes of snakes slithering across the floor at me. Startled I jumped back only to realise the entire house and lawn had these snakes on it. They crawled up my legs and around my arms, however they didn't harm me. I stood on the porch and looked down the street. It seemed all the houses had a variation of shadowed creatures. My brother sighed and said, "you had to get us into this again didn't you?" I looked at him blankly, not understanding what he was saying. A shadow snake weaved its way through my hair and dropped in front of me. It's eyes glowed yellowed as it looked into me.

I was taken back to the night in the lake. Around me were different shadowed creatures, climbing on top of me, pushing me under the water, deeper and deeper I went. Slowly the shadowed creatures seemed to disappear into me, A sharp sensation filling me as each one entered. Lastly was a snake, which curled itself around my arm and burned as it passed through my skin. I lost consciousness and floated to the top, where I saw my brother pull me out. He lay me on the ground and I opened my eyes, coughing up water, I couldn't see shadows however I felt different... then I couldn't remember a thing.

Standing back at the house I looked down the street. I could see all the people looking at me, the animals turning, a strange expression on their faces. Then in a rush they all began to come at me. My brother and the guy pushed me into the house, the slammed the door hard behind them, trying to barricade it with the bookshelf off to the side. I could hear slamming at the door. The snake weaving into my hair dropped down again, this time it came close and close to my face. I closed my eyes and screamed as a burning sensation hit my forehead. I dropped to the ground. The guy came over, to see if I was okay. When I opened my eyes, I blinked. He didn't look the same. The house didn't look the same. "Where am I? Who are you?" I asked. He looked at me with a shock on his face "it's me.." I pushed him out of the way and threw the door open. Standing on the lawn were millions of shadow creatures, they seemed to go on for miles. They sat, waiting... My brother stood next to me and said "I tried to keep you from this you know... guess it runs in the family". I looked at him as the shadows crept up to us. I could feel a burning sensation all over, then I woke up.

Vampire SEALS??

My burst of insomnia seems to be slowly wearing off. Yes I am getting up all the time during the night, but between the stretch between 6am and morning I'm actually getting more than an hours of sleep, which means I've actually been able to dream. This dream.. I have no words for... but vampire seals? Seriously brain? that's what you came up with? I'm beginning to think you lost you're talent at scaring me (I'm asking to be scared shitless aren't I?). I have to admit, in the dream scary... reflecting back.. not so much scare as a what the hell factor.. so here goes:

8th May, 2011: Vampire Seals

I was standing outside my house, talking to a girl. We were engrossed in conversation when a large orange cat darted between us. I rolled my eyes when a grey cat darted after it. Following the grey cat was a dark black cat with orange flecks in its fur. The black cat was named shadow and I called to it as it ran past. It stopped for a second and looked at me, then stopped in the shadow of the house. The girl asked me why I had named my cat shadow, and I told her to watch. She watched as the cat melted into the shadow of the house and disappeared completely. I smiled and said he'd be back when he wanted to, so we went inside, leaving the door slightly ajar in case he wanted to come in. I placed out some cat food on the floor and she put a movie in. We were about to start when a white cat walked in and started eating the food. Next thing I knew, Shadow appeared and jumped at the cat. He chased the cat out of the house, and I followed after him. When I went through the door, I was standing on a beach. It was grey and overcast outside. The clouds hung low in the sky and the wind was starting to pick up. A friend of mine was sitting on a rock, I walked over and sat next to her asking her what was going on. She looked at me and said the city to surf of course. It was only then I noticed there were a lot of people on the beach. She said that she was going to compete. The girl from the house showed up and sat next to me. She asked me if I was going to compete and I said no, that my friend was the athlete, I was just here for moral support.

People started to line up along the edge of the water and with a loud bang, they dived into the ice cold water and began to swim. I looked at the girl and said, I thought city to surf was about running? She laughed and said, yeah... it is, then got up and walked away. I watched as the people swam off into the distance until they were nothing more than small black dots on the horizon. I could see my friend swimming back towards me. I thought that was weird, but she seemed to be struggling against the water. Behind her a large wave was building. It was getting larger and larger until it blocked out the sun. I started to chant a spell to hold the water back; using everything I had in me to push it backwards. I held on until my friend got to shore and she screamed "Run". I pushed back with all my might and the wave fell backwards with a loud crash, water began rushing to shore and we scrambled up onto the rocks. I looked back to see a large island in the water. It was filled with creatures that, for lack of a better explanation, looked like half seals and half vampires. They had sharp teeth and dark black eyes. Their arms held large spears and their legs were the tail of a seal. That dived into the water and started heading towards us, grabbing my friend we began to run into the deserted streets. We ran down the streets until we saw a building with the door open. We ran through the door and noticed that the building was made up of hallways of doors that went up on a slant. We started running up the hallways looking for doors that were open, as we moved up more and more people seemed to be running in the same direction. For some reason I decided to turn right down a corridor and we seemed to lose a lot of people. The hallway was coming to an end and we had to decide right or left... When we got there a guy was running past and grabbed my hand and said, we've been looking for you guys, this way. He opened a door and led us up a flight of stairs. We came to a room and a few people were lined up, they were getting their names marked off and keys.

When I was at the front of the line I got sent to a guy, who looked familiar. He was looking for me in the system and kept saying I didn't exist. I looked at him and remembered him... or dream-remembered him. I asked if he had been at an event a few days before... and I remembered he was the idiot who ruined it. He got mad and told me if I wasn’t' in the system I had to leave. The guy came behind him and said you're spelling her name wrong and started playing with the system and fixed it. He handed me a key and said, careful they're coming. I started heading towards my room, knowing where it was. The guy was behind me. When I reached my door I slid the key in, and it wouldn't open. I yanked at the door harder, it still wouldn't budge. The creatures were heading up behind me, the grabbed a guy and ripped him in half... Panicked I shoved hard at the door again, nothing. The guy screamed for me to get into his room. I ran down the hall, feeling their fingers grabbing at my clothes. I leaped through the door and the door slid closed behind me. I landed hard on the floor, missing the edge of the bed by only a fraction. The creatures smashed at the door, again and again, I was surprised the door managed to stay closed for as long as it did. The guy looked at me and said, I think we're fucked. I headed for the window and smashed my hand through it. I was hoping we could climb to another room, or the ground, but there was nothing to hold onto. I looked down, we were high off the ground and I could see the creatures swarming below, waiting. I swore as a small hole emerged in the door. The hole grew and then the door burst into pieces onto the ground. The guy looked at me, a stupid grin on his face as he said "this could be fun" as he grabbed a piece of wood off the ground and attacked the creatures. Then I woke up

Flood and Crows

I would like to thank my Insomnia for kicking in once again. I hate when it does that because I don't get to dream and then I get frustrated and angry. Anyways due to my lack of sleeping, and the necessity to wake up every hour on the hour, I decided to update with an older dream.. Here we go

4th July, 2010 : Flood and Crows

I was sitting at the computer, flicking through websites when a bulletin came on the news. There was going to be a heavy rain storm that might lead to flooding. My family seemed really panicked about it and insisted on us packing our essential stuff into the car. I packed my things, slowly, while watching the sky turn a dark black. There were warnings of floods coming left right and centre. There were these huge ships that had been constructed for people to stay in during the flood "just in case". We walked outside and it had begun to rain lightly, the thunder crashing loudly in front of us. We piled into the car and started driving towards these ships. We got stuck in the mud at one point and the people around us kept looking at me funny. We got free and headed to the ships but there was no room for our car and our things. We tried all the entrances and they were all filling up slowly. Someone had placed a large ladder at the top of this huge building. People were climbing up it and into the place to get out of the storm and in hope the shelter would protect them from the rain. We got out of the car and tried to park it in the garage of the place but it was full. People were arguing and screaming at one another and we kept trying different places. We eventually came back to the building and I climbed up the ladder. I peered through the window and noticed that the room was filled with pillows and people were gathered inside it, trying to escape from the storm. By now the sky was almost black and the rain was coming down harder and harder. I told my parents to get inside and I'd find somewhere for the car. I was looking for a place but I couldn't find any, people kept stopping and looking at me, then speeding off in another direction.

I wasn't sure what was going on until the man approached. He opened the bonnet of his car and began to attach wires to the engine. He said he had to do something to me, or something really bad would happen. Unsure I looked at my parents for help, they didn't seem to see me so I laid down in the rain, he opened up my shirt and grabbed a knife and slit down my chest, he opened my rib cage and put the ends of the wire on my heart. It shocked me once, he said it wasn't enough and did it again and again. Finally I felt like something was pulling me away from this scene. After struggling for a while, I gave in and let go of whatever I was holding on to and everything went black.

I was sitting at my computer, talking to someone on msn. They said a huge storm was coming and it would lead to floods that would wipe out a lot of people. I told them I wasn't leaving. The rain was getting heavier outside my window and I watched as the rain seeped under the crack of my door. It wasn't long before the water reached my ankles, I said goodbye to whoever I was talking to and walked out of the house. I saw a few cars speeding past and I waved my arms to get someone to stop, A car slowed down and there was a woman and a man in it, I thought they were going to help me, instead the man pulled out a gun and shot me four times. I fell to the ground and I could see my blood mixing with the water. I was trying to get up when the Man approached me again. He said he could help, I had to trust him. A pool of black ooze appeared on the floor, He said that if I wanted to live, I had to let it in me. I could see others walking the street with the ooze; they seemed to be like zombies. I could feel the ooze travelling up my leg and into the wounds, I didn’t' want it but I didn't have a choice. Then everything just stopped.

I was standing outside of my school talking to a girl. She told me I had to go home and get her a book before class started. I walked towards the park and noticed there were quite a few birds floating around. As I turned the corner I noticed a large black crow sitting on the fence. Its wings were out as if it was drying the rain from before, although nothing was wet. It called out loudly and stared into my eyes as I walked past. I felt a sharp sting in my leg and turned to see another crow, its beak embedded into my leg. I pulled it out gently and let it fly. It swooped again at me. I fell to the ground, attempting to protect myself. I looked up and there was a large black dog, its eyes red growling at me. It bit me hard on the arm and began to drag me up towards my street. When I got there, I saw the man again, Just standing there laughing at me. He asks me if I've had enough. Then there was a large crack of thunder. Then I woke up.

Spy Games

This is a dream I had last night... It's pretty long but it was kind of one of those dreams where.. part 1 would happen, then i'd wake up to something, then part two would follow on etc. Since I have no idea what the dream is about, i'm going to call it

23rd April 2011, Spy Games

I was standing at my grandfather's house on the balcony. It was dark outside and only a yellow full moon hung in the air, hidden by the trees that grew wild in the old deserted dirt park, a guy came up behind me, he put his arm around my waste and smiled. He asked if I was ready for this, and I looked up at him for a second, sighed and said, "yeah of course, work never sleeps does it?" He looked up at the sky for a second and then said "no it doesn't". I took a final breath of the night air as I walked down the stair case into the dark. He followed me almost silently. I let my eyes adjust to the darkness and the sounds of the night, looking for movement on behind the trees. I started to see shadows move between the trees, slightly then faster and faster. I braced myself as more and more of them appeared and moved out of the dark into the light. We were surrounded by men and women dressed in black. Their eyes were red, and they were staring us down. My hand formed a fist, as I stood my ground. He whispered into my ear "ready?", I flashed him a quick smile and said "always" as I grabbed the person closest to me and punched them in the face. The staggered backwards and the rest of the group advanced. I kicked the guy in the knee that was to my right, as I grabbed a hold of the collar of the guy on my left and hit him in the face. I could feel their hands on me, grabbing at my arms, as I kicked out harder and swung my fists, connecting with whoever was closest to me. The fight seemed to go on for a while, a pile of bodies laid at our feet. until there were only a few left. One of them grabbed me around my throat. I kicked them hard in the knee, they stumbled as I positioned my hands around their throat, squeezing harder and harder until the passed out. I dropped them on top of the pile and stood in the darkness. A strange light seemed to come from the bodies. and one by one their eyes opened. I helped them up one by one, and saw the confusion in their eyes. "It’s alright" I said, "It's time for you to go home" As they walked away from the lawn. The one who had their hands around my throat stopped and stared at me. Looked right into me... their eyes a faint colour of red and black mixed together. It smiled and said "til next time then?" And walked off into the night. The guy stood by my side, he looked at me for a second. My body ached and I could feel bruises forming on my arms and legs. He sighed and said "well that was a fun way to spend a night". I smiled as my phone rang. A voice on the other line said "I need you at the place". I sighed, Looked at the guy, who nodded and we got into the car.

We were standing in front of a set of elevators. It had a pad on the front with a hand scanner to let people in. I was trying to decide how best to get in when a girl appeared. She had hair black hair pulled up in a bun and black framed glasses on. She walked over. swiped her card and placed her hand on the scanner. I approached her from behind, silently. When the doors opened I pushed her in and we went in after her. I grabbed the card from her hand, and told her to punch in the code to take us down. She stood there, so I placed a gun behind her back and told her to do it now. She punched in 33 then a # symbol followed by a button with no symbol on it. The elevator creaked as it went down, fast. When we got to the bottom. I used the end of the gun and smacked her on the back of the head, she passed out as I stepped over her body. I grabbed her glasses and straightened my dress. I turned to the guy who gave me a grin and told me to take the right hallway, as he took the left. I walked down the hallway, taking in what I was seeing. A few rooms on either side, with nothing but computers and a few desks. A couple of people walked past me, they didn't seem to notice. To the left of me was a card swipe leading to a door. I took the card I had taken from the girl and swiped it. The door slid open, and inside I saw the girl from the park, her eyes a darker shade of red, but still had bits of black in it. She looked at me, screeched loudly, the sound hurting my ears and making my body shiver as she lunged at me. Quickly, I stepped back and ran for the elevators. An alarm bell rang out through the facility as I ran down the hallway. The guy met me there, waiting at the elevator. I punched I swiped the card, and quickly keyed in the code to the elevator which burst to life going upwards. Upon reaching the ground floor, we decided our best bet was to hide. We ran into a Japanese restaurant and slipped into one of the booths. I sat next to a man who was slightly unshaven and had blue eyes. He handed me a pair of chopsticks with a wink and there was a spare plate of food on the table in front of me. The people around me began to talk, and I pretended to fit in.  The guy next to me slid a sword into my lap, and winked and said "just in case". We talked for a bit when the door swung open. 5 women stood there, clad in black outfits with swords in the arms. They threw the tables up, and people screamed. I grabbed the sword and unsheathed it, and swung up, blocking the first blow. The woman seemed angry, as a few of my friends grabbed swords from a nearby umbrella holder and attacked them. The fight seemed to go on forever, swinging and blocking. The leader swung hard at me, I lost my footing and fell to the floor, knocking down the umbrella stand. Out poured a few dozen swords, which I struggled to grab at. The first sword split in two, as swung at me. She laughed. And swung down again as I rolled out of the way. From the right, another one of them swung hard at me, hitting me in the arm and cutting me. I swore as I noticed that no one was around. I scrambled to my feet, grabbed my sword and ran into a room. I threw the door closed behind me and leant up against it to stop them getting in. I kept thinking "please let my team not be dead" when I felt a strange feeling in my arm. The cut had begun to heal itself, and the sword glowed a faint silver in my hand. I heard a humming noise and saw a bright light. Then it was quiet. I opened the door, the women were thrown around on the floor. The guy from the balcony appeared, he looked badly hurt as I ran over to help him. He put his arm around my shoulders and leaned against me as I helped him walked towards the door. He looked at me and said "definitely getting too old for this"

We sat in a small cafe having a coffee. It must have been some time passed because he no longer had cuts and bruises on his face. He looked at me and said "I really think it’s time we give this shit up" and I looked at my coffee and said, "maybe... but you'd miss the fun". He smiled and looked upwards then nodded over to a booth where a guy was placing caps on a table. I stood up and walked over to the older man. He gave me a look as I approached then asked how everything was going. I handed him a report from my handbag, and told him everything he needed to know was in there. He smiled as the lady across from him waved. I asked him when he was going to ask her out, teasing him. He appeared to get mad and told me to get back to work. He handed me a piece of paper with a simple direction on it. He told me someone needed to see me there. I sighed and walked down to the marina.

I got onto an old ship, where I was met by a general. She told me to head down to a room since there was work to be done immediately. I walked down there, only to see a lot of people running. I walked into a room with a few people sitting on chairs who exclaimed finally loudly as I walked in.
"So what's going on" I asked. Turned out there was a missile heading for the ship, so we had to figure out what to do. I wasn’t sure so I looked up at the white board and we began to brain storm. Some suggested changing our bearing, however we wouldn't have time to do it without any damage happening. I suggested firing a missile back, which would impact and would change our bearing slightly but would take the last amount of damaging. After debating it for a while, the general walked in and asked for our solution. I told her to fire a missile at it, and moved up to the deck. The captain said it was too late. As I watched the missile run and hit into the boat. I felt the missile hit the boat, and grabbed onto the railing. The boat began to sink in some places and people scrambled to get up. I ran towards the high edge and saw the split in the boat. I watched people fall off the boat, into the water, and they were drowning. I wasn't sure what to do, except try to get the people who were clambering over the top of me off me. One of them rammed into my side and I toppled over the edge. I held onto the railing but I could feel my arms tiring. Someone smacked into my hand and I let go of the railing and fell down for what felt like forever before I hit the water. I felt myself being pulled under water, and I couldn't reach the surface. I drifted along with the pull of the water and finally surfaced inside the crack in the boat which was filling up with water. I noticed an underwater blow torch and I grabbed it. I pushed myself down and began to heat the metal up, hoping to seal it. I could feel myself struggling to breathe as I closed up the crack... which for some reason was a straight line up along the bottom of the boat. I pushed upwards to get a breath of air and went back down.  I continued to seal the boat until there was no holes left all along the bottom. I finally reached the surface and took in a large gasp of air when it was done. The boat seemed to be sitting straight now. I yelled out for someone to throw me a rope or something. The general appeared and tossed me a rope. She pulled me up and I fell onto the floor of the boat exhausted. I took a minute to get up, she leaned in and said "why don’t' you take your time?" I looked up, only to see the girl with the red and black eyes standing there. A large number of her allies surrounding her, and there was me, dripping wet with a blow torch in my hand. I swore as they charged at me... Then I woke up
