Red Ants

Since my dreams haven't been as.... yeah... as they usually are, I've decided every so often I'll post something from my dream log.. Then I had the issue of deciding exactly what to post... so I decided I'll start at the most recent proper log (which isn't just bullet points) and go backwards.. so here we go.

From the 20th of March, 2011

I was sitting on the train heading into uni. However as most dreams occur, the place you think you're destined to go to, you never quite end up at. I was playing with my phone, probably texting someone about trivial matters of life when the train stopped. I got off the train onto the station, and looked around. It was relatively empty on the platform. A few people had gotten off and started walking up the station stairs. I noticed the service information screen had no relevant information on there, just a jumble of letters that appeared to make not sense. I walked slowly up the stairs, dreading the walk to school. I walked up past the shops and down passed the other school and then into my own. Somehow instead of making it to university I had ended up at my old high school and I was heading to a class. I walked into the class room and all the seats were taken but one. I sat next to the asian girl with the short hair who paid no attention as I dropped my bag on the floor. The tutor gave me a hard look for disrupting her class and then went on to talk about something. The class had finished, I swung my bag over my shoulder and headed to the quad where my friends were. They started talking about two people we knew who were being complete bitches to everyone. We sat for a while discussing new events that were happening when I noticed more and more people running towards the front gate. Standing up I looked towards the class rooms and a sea of red were rushing towards us. People fell into the sea and disappeared their screams cut short by a sea of red drowning them. I started walking faster and faster back towards the station. More and more people seemed to fall down, scrambling past one another to get ahead. I watched as the girl in front turned to me, she grabbed my arm and said help me. I watched as blood appeared on her shirt, spreading outwards and then ants flowed out of her mouth as she hit the floor. Afraid I began to run, throwing my bag to the side. I ran through a field, which had somehow appeared. I looked behind me and I was alone. I slowed my pace, walking past the large rocks that were on the ground, placed randomly across the grass. I could see trees in the distance and feel the faint breeze dancing across the grass. In the distance i could see a house and I walked towards it slowly. From behind me I heard a rumbling sound of feet marching on the ground. Turning around a sea of red changed direction and turned towards me, I ran for the house, banging my hands on the door until they bled. The door opened a crack and i scrambled inside. The guy in the room grabbed cement blocks and placed them along the door. It was only then i noticed the entire room was made of cement except the windows. I could see the ants crawling over the window, the guy looked at me and gave me a reassuring look. He told me they couldn't get through the cement, so for now we were safe. The room got darker and darker as the ants crawled over the window until I couldn't see anything. I began to feel light headed, like we weren't on the floor. The ants were slowly peeling away from the glass, I looked up and only saw clouds everywhere. My head began to feel dizzy as i watched the red flecks melt into the sky and then there was nothing.

I awoke on the ground, bits of rubble floated around me. I groaned as I stood up, every part of my body ached. The guy was lying face down on the ground. Wearily I approached him and turned him over. He was breathing and his eyes slowly opened. I looked up at the sound of humming in the distance. He got up and began to run, I followed behind him. We ended up in an old town with log cabins as buildings. For some reason the creatures hadn't ventured this far, and the guy began to build the cement house again. While he was doing that, I continued to gather food and supplies that I knew we would need.It seemed to last no more than second when he came in to announce he was done. Picking up the baskets, me and the few people left in the town headed into the cement house. To my horror the house had been constructed completely of glass. I placed the food and supplies on the table and asked turned to the boy. He looked at me.. or rather through me as his eyes opened wide. I turned to see the ants coming towards us and then one by one turned to watch the people around me, scream in horror. I watched as the white blouses got red stains that seemed to spread and as everyone began to fall down around me. I stood there, watching them, unsure of what to do next. I waited for the ants to get me, I looked down at the ground into the lifeless eyes of the boy and waited. Nothing happened. I could see the ants getting closer and closer to me. Finally they reached my feet. I could feel them crawl up my legs but I knew there was no point trying to stop it. I closed my eyes, feeling them climb higher and higher.. opening my eyes I saw a flash of red.. then I woke up.
